Morris's Winter League 2005

The annual Morris's Winter Mixed Doubles League took place in the club during the month of November with the finals taking place on Saturday 3rd December, 2005. Over 120 participants entered and some fine tennis was on view. Congratulations to all the winners. As usual these competitions would not be possible without the contiuned support of our sponsors. On this occasion we would like to sincerely thank Mr. Edward McBride for his very generous and continued support. Also thanks to his wife Eleanor for her assistance in getting all the prizes selected and displayed on the night. Thank you! Thanks also to Paula Prenderville and all the ladies who assisted her in the kitchen on the night for a very tasty meal.

Delany's Chemist New Year American Tournament 2006
On Saturday 4th February 2006 the annual Delany's Chemist New Year American Tournament took place. In preparation for the upcoming Spring League the format was Mens & Ladies Doubles. It was a fine evening for tennis with the weather playing its part. Congratulations to all the winners who all went home smelling beautiful with all the lovely prizes of perfume, after shave and various other shower gels and soaps. Thanks again to Mr. & Mrs. Percy Delany for their sponsorship of the event and also to Jim Delany for presenting the prizes on the night.

TRAMORE FRIENDLY CHALLENGE
On Friday, 10th February "The Friday Night Club" played the first leg of the annual Tramore Challenge. Of the nine mixed doubles pairings, St. Anne's won 4 with Tramore winning the remaining 5. Overall Tramore takes a healthy lead of 23 games, in overall games won, into the away leg which is to be played on Friday, 10th March in Tramore Tennis Club. After the tennis all players and guests were treated to an excellent spread in the clubhouse. Thanks to all the members who prepared the really excellent food and contributed to an excellent night.
An additional challenge for the Friday Night Club has also been laid down by some of the "old faithfuls". 9 mixed doubles pairing will take on the "Old Faithfuls" on 3rd March from 9p.m. Anyone interested in playing should contact Paul Furlong. Light refreshments will be provided by the away team after the formalities of the tennis have been completed!!

MUNSTER BRANCH WINTER LEAGUE
Congratulations to the St. Anne's Grade 4 'A' team on winning their group in the group stages of the Munster Branch Inter Club Competition. The team now enters the knockout stage and has drawn a home advantage going forward from the last 16 all the way up to the final. We wish them all the best of luck.

UPDATE: The team is now in the quarterfinal having won its opening match on Feb 26th in the knockout section 3-1. The quarterfinal will be played in St. Anne's on Sunday, March 12th. Let's get out and give the team some support!
CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of the club took place on Thursday 22nd February. All motions on the agenda were passed. The Chairman extended a warm welcome to the new members nominated to the committee - Eamonn McGettigan, Fidelma Connors and Carmel Jacob. Welcome on board!
