INTER FIRMS TOURNAMENT 2006
Sponsored by
The annual Inter Firms Competition took place in the club from May 1st to May 14th. This year 150 teams entered and many were heard to comment that it was the best Inter Firms Tournament for many, many years.
This year the committee decided to go all out and make it a great tournament by ensuring all the component parts for a great two weeks were in place - Great Tennis, Great Food, Great Entertainment and Great Weather - Yes! We can organise the weather!!
Without the help of many, many people the tournament would not have been the success it was. In particular great thanks must go to the organising committee - Pat Sheridan, Bryan Morrison, Eamonn McGettigan, Fidelma Connors, Robert Leslie, Carmel Jacob & Michelle Kirby. Thanks also to Michael and all the bar staff for all the late hours; to Paula Prendiville for the excellent food she provided over the two weeks, it was one of the highlights and many commented that it was what made the tournament for them; to those companies who very generously sponsored the entertainment events, Tom Murphy Car Sales, Hartley People, Ardkeen Quality Food Stores, WLR FM, Nolan Farrell & Gough, Mulligan's Chemist, Tritschler & Tritschler and O' Shea O'Toole & Partners; and to all the many, many members who helped out on the desk downstairs and in the kitchen upstairs, many thanks and well done to all!
And last but definitely not least, to our main sponsor Bank of Ireland- Thank you! Without your generous support the tournament couldn't happen. We hope that you felt it was value for money and that you will be back again for an even better tournament again next year.

On Thursday May 18th the club held an Open Charity American Tournament in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. Despite some very inclement weather earlier in the day it dried up beautifully for the evening and didn't affect the tennis at all. A very healthy turnout of over 90 players showed up for the event and between the raffle, and entry fees almost €2,000 was raised for the Cardiac Unit in Waterford Regional Hospital. Thanks to all our sponsors for giving so generously - Dawn Meats (steaks), Gerry Walsh Fruit & Veg (salad), The Pantry (cooking services), Bank of Ireland (raffle) and Kelly & Dollard (raffle).
