S. Anne's Waterford Tennis Club Open Week 2006

The annual Open Championships took place in the club from July 9th to 16th. We had an excellent entry, slightly up on last year, spread out over the four divisions - Premier, Grade 4, Grade 5 and Grade 6.
Over the week we had absolutely excellent weather - I don't recall one wet day or evening during the week - somewhat unusual for Ireland, even in the Summer. It was enjoyed by players and observers alike as all were able to sit outside in the balmy evenings enjoying the tennis and the odd drink or two.
Without the help of many, many people the tournament would not have been the success it was. In particular great thanks must go to the organising committee - Pat Sheridan, Bryan Morrison, Eamonn McGettigan, Fidelma Connors, Robert Leslie, Carmel Jacob & Michelle Kirby. Thanks also to Michael and all the bar staff for all the late hours; to Paula Prendiville for the excellent food she provided again over the week and to all the many, many members who helped out on the desk downstairs and in the kitchen upstairs, many thanks and well done to all!
And last but definitely not least, to our main sponsor Waterford Crystal - Thank you! Without your generous support the tournament couldn't happen. We hope that you felt it was value for money and that you will be back again for an even better tournament again next year.
