Inter Firms Tennis Time
Enjoy it but how can I enjoy it when I dont really play the game or feel Im out of my league playing against whomever of this region.
Enjoy it after all its only a bit of fun. Its the others that are ultra competitive, as for me I just want to win. Do my best. Impress my partner. Or the boss.
One of the most used sayings in tennis coaching is look at the ball. Look at it, what a load of rubbish, it should read hit the ball in order to hit you really really have to look at it, judge it, move to or from your location in order to hit it and dont be afraid to hit it. After all, the ball can only react to your hit so hit it as wisely as possible in those milliseconds you are in charge of it.
When hitting that fuzzy yellow ball that flies past you remember to stay in the present, the here and now. Dont be trying to impress that good looking person on the court next to you they dont even see you as they are focused on their own game. Focus on your own game and play the score. The score, what is the score? I dont know. If you dont know the score you cant play your best tactical tennis game. If you are up go for it, if you are down dont hit it into that net that seems to be everywhere and getting bigger and larger but just on your side. The others never hit it there.
If you do hit it into the net or out too often learn from that mistake. As my old tennis buddy Albert Einstein once said
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new
so adjust, lift, soften the next shot so you get a different result and you are now imposing your game on those on the far side.
I will end now but I will leave you with one wish that you remember for as long as a gold fish does which is 7 seconds most rallys are well over by 7 seconds but you could and might spend hours dwelling on a point, a call, an error that you hit in the first game, leading to a loss a loss that should never have happened and now you are at home on Finals Day and those pluggers are lifting the cup all because you didn’t go out to enjoy your game.
All the best,
